Final Project

For my final project, I decided to take my scroll and digitally revamp it. I also added several feet which I was unable to put on the original due to time constraints.
The concept behind this drawing was to show sort of an inner universe that is my mind which can be considered a sort of escape from reality. And like the thoughts of any person, the landscape is varied and dynamic. Although some of the characters seem bright and friendly, there is also a darker side that lies within all of us. The creatures shown represent many years of my creative thinking collected together into one continuous thought process. And although a landscape scene may not seem to be much of an analogy to a person, I think this work represents my innermost feelings rather well.

Performance Art

VIDEO COMING SOON

I've always been easily embarrassed so I never really tried doing a public performance. But I this I found a way to detach myself from the situation. No one knows who I am, and I can't see them. It's a win-win situation.

Drawing with yarn

The assignment was to use a ball of yarn to draw in 3D space. I took the parallel lines of the upstairs guardrail and wove the year in between it to create this imperfect grid pattern. I would have made it more symmetrical, but I ran out of yarn on the vertical weave

Textiles

Thread was used to fill in the hairy parts of the animals. Sorry for the bad picture quality, it was nighttime.
As you can probably guess, textiles was my least favorite category.

Thread making a grid pattern on a bent coat hanger.

Thread wrapped around black foam board. The first one was done after this, which is why it looks more organized.

This?....I don't know what this was supposed to be...

Water

A 30 second monster movie involving water. Was originally going to be classified as wood, but I thought the boat was too simple.

Paper towels use a method called "capillary action" to absorb water up tiny channels in the tissue. If ink is in the way, it will be absorbed as well

(NOTE: ABOVE MOVE COUNTS AS 3 SEPARATE PIECES.)

Made by drawing on paper with markers and then leaving an ice cube on top in order to leach the colors. Two of them were given an ice theme, the other two are just abstract forms.

Wood

Cork people!: I could have made them all the same, but I decided to have them in different posses. The remind me of tiny robots.

Toothpick furniture: The first two didn't come that great, but I slowly got better at it as I went along.

Tape

Tape patterns: The last one looks so terrible because I thought it would be a good idea try to weave the tape.  Note to self: it is impossible to weave tape.

Tape animal sculptures (and a helicopter) these were really fun to make, I wish they could have been bigger, but I don't have enough tape.
